Perhaps one of the most overlooked facets of a person's life is their diet. Not many fully understand the full effects of a bad diet. In order to remain healthy, it is important to maintain a balanced and nutritious diet. At the same time, avoid dreadful ingredients in food such as corn syrup, or bisphenol A. With so many processed foods on the market, it can be difficult to find whole foods and natural food suppliers. The average super market is stocked and loaded with all of the most harmful foods, meanwhile the FDA makes it increasingly difficult for whole food providers to stay in business.
There are countless harmful additives and ingredients within the foods we eat. High fructose corn syrup, for instance, is hardly edible at all. The ingredient is made in a factory, and is beneficial for corporations and food producers because it mixes well with many types of ingredients, tastes nearly the same as sugar, allows food to remain on store shelves for much longer, and is altogether less expensive than actual sugar. Note, it is beneficial for the producers of the food, and not the customers. Recent studies have been released to the public which show links between high fructose corn syrup and cancer. Is it no surprise that the cancer rate has reached such high levels? Cancer cells are much more likely to consume fructose over other sugars, such as glucose.
Another chemical that regularly comes into contact with much of our food is bisphenol A. While not strictly a food ingredient, this chemical is found in many plastic containers, and leaks into the food through contact. Mason jar lids, water bottles, and pretty much every kind of plastic container available on the market contains bisphenol A. When plastic containers are put into the microwave, the food is literally bathed in bisphenol A. The effects of this chemical includes hyper femininity in females, and femininity in males. Other affected areas of the body include the brain, reproductive system, and metabolism. Despite studies dating back to the 1980's and 1990's showing evidence of these adverse effects on humans, this chemical can be found contaminating practically every food imaginable in the supermarket.
One of the main reasons the FDA has seemingly failed in its attempt to regulate the food market, is because its definition of what is food is completely incorrect. The FDA treats food as if it were dead material, but this is not the case. For instance, the sale of raw milk has been essentially banned within the United States. Milk must be pasteurized, which means heating the milk to the point where any bacteria will be killed. This process does not simply kill bacteria, but also 20% of the beneficial qualities of milk. The attempts to make milk 'safe' for consumption has been all but completely pointless, as pasteurized milk has been found to contain even more diseases than the raw milk. It is entirely true that human beings can exist solely off of milk, due to raw milk providing all eight essential amino acids.
It has really become the responsibility of every individual to improve their own diet for their own health. As the FDA and most food producing companies have shown the public, they care little for our actual health, as they sell us what can absolutely be called poison. A good option for anyone looking to inform others about the health benefits they will receive from eating healthy would be to visit some of the accredited online medical schools to see what degrees are offered. A career as a dietitian is an incredibly viable option as so many are ignorant to how the food they eat is doing harm.
The diet sure is important and FDA has proven that we can't trust them to keep bad ingredients away.
