4 Therapeutic Ways Music Can Heal

The sound of music can heal a person by causing changes in brainwave activity and by altering a person’s heart and breathing rates. Sound can be recreated to offer release from a traumatic experience and certain sound frequencies can dissolve blocks.

Music has existed for a very long time and is fondly called the universal language. Not only does it connect people of different cultures and language, it is also a power force that can influence our well being. Several researches reveal that listening to music has several physical and psychological benefits. From something as simple as calming the mind to causing a dramatic decrease in a patient’s blood pressure, the possibilities of the sound of music is vast. It is from harnessing the healing effects of music on the mind and body that sound healing was conceived. Here are some ways music heals:

Music causes changes in brainwave activity

Research shows that music can cause significant changes in the brainwave activity of a person. Music that follows strong beats can rouse one’s brainwaves. The sharper and faster the beats of the music, the sharper and more alert one’s concentration becomes. On the other hand, music that follows a slower tempo can induce calm and a meditative mood. Music can play an important role in soothing a patient and inducing a relaxing atmosphere in clinics and hospitals. In fact, it has been shown that individuals diagnosed with depression need fewer medications and respond better to psychotherapy when music is integrated in the course of the treatment. Children with autism, attention deficit disorder and learning disabilities have also responded in positive ways to music therapy.

Music can alter a person’s heart and breathing rates

As with the principles in changing brainwave activities, different kinds of music can also alter the person’s heart rate and breathing rate. The right tempo of music can induce slower breathing, a slower heart rate and can cause the body to go into a relaxed state. These effects of music are important in counteracting the possible effects of chronic stress and anxiety and provide relief from apprehension as well as promote a better state of mind.

Sound can be recreated to offer release from a traumatic experience

When someone experiences something traumatic, for instance, a car accident, the brain registers everything that occurred. This can result in energetic trauma which the body will store and can hamper recovery. Sound healing therapists can help patients recover from the incident faster by recreating the sounds that happened during the accident to provide the patient a form of release from the trauma.

Certain sound frequencies can dissolve blocks

Imagine an opera singer shattering a glass with her own voice. This is made possible when the singer is able to match the frequency of her voice to that of the glass. This principle is applied in ultrasounds used in operations involving kidney stones. Ultrasound waves can break kidney stones into pieces small enough to be passed out of the body without the use of surgery.

The sound of music opens endless possibilities even in the field of medicine. With the right information and methods, one can integrate music in ways that are beneficial to patients and people suffering from different symptoms and ailments.

Glee Gum Review and Giveway

I had the wonderful opportunity to review Glee Gum. I love this gum, it is all natural gluten-free gum. Glee Gum is also offering a to three of my winners some Glee Gum of their own.

Glee Gum is all-natural, gluten-free chewing gum with no artificial coloring, flavoring, sweeteners nor preservatives. Glee Gum is the only gum in North America made the old-fashioned way, with chicle. Chicle is a natural tree sap harvested sustainably from the rain forests of Central America. Once all chewing gum was made with chicle, but today most gum is made entirely from synthetic stuff. Not Glee Gum. Glee Gum uses chicle because it is an eco-friendly way to help conserve the rain forest. Chicle is also what gives the gum such great, long-lasting chewing texture! Glee Gum is a green gum right down to the packaging, which is made from biodegradable, recycled cardboard. So chew with Glee, naturally.

Glee Gum is made with all natural ingredients including: pure cane sugar, rice syrup, natural flavorings and colorings. Their gum base has super chewy natural chicle harvested from Sapodilla trees in the rain forests of Central America.

Glee Gum is: Vegetarian, Additive Free, Lactose Free, Dairy Free, Wheat Free, Gluten Free, Casein Free, Egg Free, Yeast Free, Nut Free, and Peanut Free. All Glee Gum is soy free. Please note, however, that other products containing soy lecithin are processed in the same facility as Glee Gum.

Glee Gum has: all natural ingredients, rice syrup instead of corn syrup, natural chicle, delicious, long-lasting, and popular flavors: tangerine, peppermint, cinnamon, spearmint, bubblegum and triple berry. Glee Gum does NOT have: artificial preservatives, artificial flavors, artificial colors, artificial sweeteners (e.g. aspartame, saccharin or cyclamate).

The first time I tried this gum I loved it. It tastes very good and I love all the different flavors they have. You can even make your own gum, gummies and chocolate, Wow! My favorite flavors are Triple Berry, Cinnamon and Bubble Gum. I just wish the flavor lasted longer it tastes so good. This would make a great treat to hand out to the trick-or-treaters on Halloween. I highly recommend this gum for anyone who is gluten intolerant or just wants a natural gum to chew. I give Glee Gum 4.5 stars out of 5. I will definitely be buying this gum for my family and I. Excellent Gum, Thank-you Glee Gum.

Check out The Glee Gum Website for all the different flavors they have, where to buy and for the history of Glee Gum. They even have their own blog. You can also get Glee Gum on Amazon.

Signs You May Need to Be Gluten-Free

Gluten is a protein that is found in wheat, rye, barley and oats. If you are allergic to this substance, continually consuming it can cause damage to your small intestine and prevent you body from absorbing essential nutrients. Having gluten intolerance could result in testing positive for Celiac Disease, depending on how sensitive you body is to it. As an autoimmune disease, Celiac causes the body to attack itself anytime that you come in contact with gluten. This can happen by eating something or using a product that contains gluten. Sometimes it can take people a while before they realize that they are allergic to gluten, as symptoms can vary from person to person. But if you are experiencing regular problems with your skin, stomach, or respiration, you may want to look into a gluten-free lifestyle.

Stomach
When you have a gluten allergy or intolerance it is not uncommon to experience stomach problems. If you are allergic to gluten your body thinks it is being harmed when you eat food containing it, and it will create antibodies as a defense. Individuals who are actually allergic to gluten have severe symptoms like vomiting and diarrhea which if experienced for long enough can cause dehydration. If you are simply gluten intolerant, your stomach may be able to tolerate a small amount of foods containing the substance, but if consumed in large amounts your body will react negatively even though it won't create antibodies. You might be sensitive to gluten if you experience symptoms like cramps, bloating, and constipation.

Skin
Your skin can develop problems as a result of a gluten allergy. Not long after you eat foods that contain gluten, symptoms may start to develop like a hot and itchy skin rash, hives, blisters, and swelling. Other skin conditions that may develop due to a gluten allergy include dermatitis, eczema, and psoriasis. Those who are gluten intolerant may experience less severe but still uncomfortable symptoms, although they may not show up immediately, including acne and dry or scaly skin.

Respiration
Those who have a gluten allergy can experience serious reactions that cause severe respiratory problems. Symptoms like shortness of breath and heavy breathing are common and asthma can develop. In extreme cases it can cause anaphylaxis, meaning breathing can be restricted to such a degree that a person may suffocate. Individuals who are gluten sensitive may find that they experience symptoms like a sore throat, runny nose, or itchy, watery eyes on a regular basis.

Food Should Taste Good Review and Giveaway

This is a review and giveaway for Food Should Taste Good Tortilla Chips. Food Should Taste Good Sent me 5 coupons to try out their tortilla chips. These are really good chips.

The Food Should Taste Good tortilla chips are made from the highest quality, all-natural ingredients baked into the chips. All chip varieties are gluten free, cholesterol and trans fat free, and do not use genetically modified ingredients (GMOs). They are also certified Kosher, lower in sodium, and are a good source of dietary fiber. The chips are available in ten varieties: Multigrain, Sweet Potato, Olive, Jalapeño, The Works!, Chocolate, Lime, Yellow Corn and their two newest flavors, Blue Corn and Cheddar.

These are very good chips. My whole family loves them, even my husband who is very sceptical about gluten-free products loves them. You would not even know these these chips are gluten-free, they taste so good. My favorite is the cheddar cheese flavor. I also like the Sweet Potato Flavor. We have dipped them in salsa and cheese and they are very good. On the Food Should Taste Good website they have recipes for dips. These chips do have sugar in them for those of you who who can't have sugar in your diet. I highly recommend these tortilla chips. I give Food Should Taste Good 4.5 stars out of 5, because of the sugar ingredient.

4 Tips for Choosing an Organic Oil for Your Skin Type

There are different kinds of organic facial oils that you can use for different skin types. Choose organic oils with astringent properties if you have oily skin, and use organic oils with nourishing qualities for normal skin. Opt for a combination of organic oils with moisturizing effects if you have dry skin, and go for organic oils with nourishing effects and antioxidants if you have aging skin.

Organic oils are proving to be as effective as commercialized skincare products. Organic oils are extracted from different fruits and nuts that have been grown naturally and without the intervention of pesticides and other harsh chemicals that may potentially cause allergic reactions. From organic argan oil to coconut oil, different kinds of oils have natural properties that have their own beautifying and nourishing effects on the skin. You can actually use organic oils and other natural ingredients to make your own skincare treatment for your face. The essential thing is that you know your skin type, your specific skincare needs, and what type of organic oil will best address those needs. Here are some tips to help you decide what organic oil is suitable for different skin types:

Organic oils with astringent properties for oily skin

If you have oily skin that is prone to acne breakouts, you should choose oils that have astringent and non-comedogenic qualities. This type of organic oil will hydrate your skin while keeping it from producing too much oil. Grapeseed, hazelnut and fractionated coconut oils are non-comedogenic in nature, which means they will not clog your pores and will reduce the risk of acne breakouts. Jojoba oil is also a good choice for controlling the skin’s sebum production. You can also mix the essential oils of cedar wood, cypress, lavender, basil, rosemary and eucalyptus into your choice of base oil in order to tone your skin.

Organic oils with nourishing qualities for normal skin

If you have normal skin, you can choose oils that are gentle, light, and do not contain astringent properties that may dry your skin. Organic oils from camellia, macadamia nut, rose hip and jojoba are great choices. You can choose one these oils as a base oil and mix it with the essential oils of geranium, rose, lavender and neroli to help clear and tone your skin.

A combination of organic oils that have moisturizing effects for dry skin

For dry skin, you can choose a combination of rich oils with moisturizing effects. Organic oils from sweet almond, avocado, rose hip and macadamia nuts are some of the options you can choose to help seal in moisture and enhance the natural oils of your skin. You can also add a few drops of atlas, cedar, chamomile, palmarosa, vetiver, neroli and cypress essential oils to your choice of base oil to help soothe dry and irritated skin and improve skin tone.

Organic oils with nourishing effects and antioxidants for aging skin

If you have aging and mature skin, you can restore the radiance and youthfulness of your face by using a combination of camellia, macadamia, fractionated coconut, argan oils and evening primrose. These natural oils are known for their nourishing effects on the skin and contain a good amount of antioxidants that help fight off free radicals and prevent sun damage. The anti-aging effects of these oils can be complemented by adding drops of geranium, rose, neroli, clary sage and fennel to the base oil.

The different types of organic oils is proof that skincare does not have to be generic and come in a bottle.

OVitaminPro.Com

I recently came across this great resource for the gluten intolerant, OVitaminPro.Com

They are a nutritional supplement and vitamin company based on functional analysis of lab testing. They offer only the products that they have used clinically and are only sold by licensed health care providers. They have been putting more focus into the gluten side of things are are continuing to add a ton of resources to their Gluten Resource section on the site.

I like all the videos that they have on being gluten intolerant. One video has the title, Starting a Gluten-Free Diet without a Celiac Diagnois. It is very good information, so check it out. The videos are staring Dr. Daniel Schlenger D.C.

One of their supplements that stands out to me is their, Gluten Flam. GlutenFlam is formulated to help reduce the effects of gluten sensitivities by helping in a more complete digestion of gluten and casein too. There is no substitute for a gluten or casein free diet in those with these sensitivities but many food contain hidden gluten or casein and GlutenFlam can help in this times. It sounds like a very promising supplement.

OVitaminPro.com has their own blog, where they mention my blog as well as others. One article that they have on their blog is: October is Breast Cancer Awareness Month. It mentions what vitamins help with breast cancer and that you should educate yourself on the subject.

I encourage you to check out OVtaminPro.Com and check out all their resources on being gluten intolerant and tell them I sent you. I think this is a very good resource for us who are gluten intolerant/celiac disease.

Skin Free Review and Giveaway

Skin Free Skincare
This is a review and giveaway from Skin Free Skincare. I was given the opportunity to try out their About Face Power Pack which includes their Extra Moisturizing Soap, Daytime Light Moisture and Corrective Face Nectar.

There are many “natural” skincare products on the market, but few are rated by the Environmental Working Group with “0” toxicity. Skin Free Skincare has that honor. Created by a practicing Pharmacist in response to patient’s needs, this line is safe, effective, and affordable. Each product is formulated using natural oils and butters with specific moieties that actually do what we promise they will do. Sometimes they even do more. Effective for those with extremely sensitive skin, eczema, psoriasis, and allergies, these products are also great for the eco-conscious consumer who is looking for the perfect skincare products. They keep your skin free from petroleum, fragrances, colorants, and harmful chemicals by using all natural vegetable ingredients. They never test on animals and are conscious of only using replenishable ingredients.

I have very sensitive skin and I have to be very careful what I put on my skin. This skin care system doesn't bother my skin at all. I love this skin care product. My skin doesn't free dry anymore. I love how the extra moisturizer soap makes my skin feel soft. The daytime light moisturizer makes my skin feel soft and silky. And the corrective face nectar has kind of a strong smell to it, but it is doable. It seems to be working to smooth out my skin. This is a natural skin care product and I believe it would be beneficial for anyone who has allergies or just wants to use a natural skin care product. I would definitely buy this product for myself. I give the About Face Power Pack 4.5 stars out 5.

Check out Skin Free's Website to see all the products that they carry and where to buy.

Lotus Foods Giveaway Winner

Congratulations, to the winner of the Lotus Foods Rice Giveaway. And the winner is #25 Jessica. You have won a package of "Lotus Foods Gluten-Free Rice From Around The World". That is a package of six different rice to try out. I will be sending you an e-mail shortly. I used random to determine the winner.

Easily digested, rice is a wholesome component of a balanced diet. For those with Celiac Disease, rice is an important staple. But eating plain brown or white rice – especially of the commodity varieties – day after day can grow tiresome. They offer a world of rice that will delight the senses with their array of unique colors, textures and flavors. They have a rice for every occasion. And there are no hidden ingredients in any of Their rices. When you purchase a bag of Lotus Foods rice, that’s what you get. A bag of raw rice. Nothing else.

For those seeking a gluten or wheat free diet, Their rices are a valuable source of vitamins, minerals, dietary fiber and antioxidants. For variety and an added nutritional punch, try their whole grain black, red, brown and pink rices, which are an even better source of potent antioxidants, vitamins, minerals and fiber.

Since 1995, they have pioneered the introduction of exotic rice handcrafted on small family farms in remote areas of the world such as Bhutan, Bangladesh, and China, into the US market. Each rice varietal is distinguished by its terroir* and treasured for its distinctive cooking quality, taste, texture, aroma, color, and nutritional value.

They founded Lotus Foods with the intent and vision to support sustainable global agriculture by promoting production of traditional heirloom rice varieties, many of which may otherwise have become extinct, while enabling the small family rice farmer to earn an honorable living. They are the only US-based company with the unique vision and commitment to seek out small family rice farmers in developing countries and provide them a means of economic support through access to a global and sustainable marketplace economy.

You can purchase Lotus Foods Rice on their Website, Lotus Foods and on Amazon. Also keep an eye out for it at your local natural food stores. Check out Lotus Foods website, they have a vast of information.
Thank-you everyone for entering my giveaway on Lisa's Gluten-Free Advice and Healthy Living.

Upcoming Review on DrNatura

I just started a cleanse a week ago from DrNatura. I am using their Colonix Internal Cleansing Program. It works really well, definitely helps to cleanse you out. I started out using just a couple of capsules in the morning and half a scoop of the fiber after that. And using the tea at night. Now I am using the full 4 capsules in the morning and one scoopafter that. And the a cup of tea at night. I had been feeling bloated and the acid reflux has been acting up, as well as other things and I am starting to feel a little better. Check back with me in a few weeks and I will give you a full review on the cleanse and maybe even a giveaway.

Why do you need internal cleansing?

We are all exposed to thousands of toxins and chemicals on a daily basis at work, in the home, through the air we breath and our food and water supply. In addition, we are eating more sugar and refined foods than ever before in human history and regularly abuse our bodies with various stimulants an sedatives. This may lead to poor digestion, constipation, toxic colon build-up, weight gain, fatigue, low energy and emotional imbalance. The body's first line of defense is a healthy colon. Sluggish functioning of this organ rapidly produces widespread toxicity and autointoxication, making colon cleansing one of the most important parts of a dextoxification process.

I was not financially compensated for this review, DrNatura gave me two months worth of Colonix for reviewing purposes. Thank-you DrNautra for letting me try out your product and in sharing it with my reader's on Lisa's Gluten-Free Advice and Healthy Living.
